In snowy and cold regions of Japan, snow management measures are essential for stable societal conditions during the winter season. In particular, the upkeep of road traffic is crucial for sustaining socio-economic activities. We are developing an affordable LiDAR system to record snow as point clouds around roads (including road sides), and are investigating methods for deriving useful indices for snow removal operations and traffic management.
