There is an allometry relationship between rice plant’s stem number and the canopy volume (The occupied space of a rice plant and the gap space between the canopy surface and the ground) in the estimation method of stem number.

In estimation process, the relative canopy volume, rV is calculated by 3D point-cloud data of a rice plant to ignore the effect of a laser spot size. To approximate the relationship between  rice plant’s stem number, S and the rV by a logarithmic equation, the S is estimated.
